Dragana Lončar

She was born in 1992 in Novi Sad. She attended Isidor Bajić Secondary Music School in Novi Sad in the class of professor Igor Josifovski. She attended bachelor studies in the field of instrument music at the University in Columbus (USA) in the class of Zoran Jakovčić. She won the prestigious Robert Woodruff scholarship. She completed her master studies in the field of performance and pedagogy at the University of Colorado (USA) in the class of professor Erika Eckert and Geraldine Walther (viola, Takács Quartet). She worked as an assistant at the Department for string instruments.
She participated in numerous master courses, including renowned soloists such as Roberto Díaz, Jutta Puchhammer-Sédillot, Yizhak Schotten, Sheila Brown and James Dunham. She played under world renowned conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Christoph Eschenbach, Robert Spano, Keith Lockhart, Ludovic Morlot, Marin Alsop, David Robertson and Joann Falletta. Her artistic development was in great measure influenced by members of Cavani and Takács string quartet. Apart from performing in the USA, she played in chamber ensembles and orchestras in Serbia, Hungary, Japan and France. She won several awards, including first place at the national competition in Belgrade, and she participated in international music festivals such as Aspen Music Festival, International Festival of Slavic Music (Moscow, Russia), Brevard Music Festival, Zodiac Music Festival (southern France), Pacific Music Festival (Sapporo, Japan). She currently works as a member of American Society Youth Council for viola. As of 2017, she has played on a modern viola made by a Colombian violin maker Alessandro Alberi.

Viola
